Its president, Azwanddin Hamzah, claimed
members of parliament were receiving funds from foreigners. He declined to name
them, claiming there were "too many involved to name".
He said he decided to propose the new law
after exposing several issues concerning Suaram and its alleged funding by
currency speculator George Soros.
He suggested that the new act should also
prevent foreign incitement in local media, including internet portals.
JMM, he said, knew that foreign individuals
did not want to see Malaysia
have a strong economic development. "They just want to see the country in
political turmoil at all times. They also want to corrupt the minds of our
youth."
The government, he added, should also retract
operating licences for media outlets and internet portals which were being
funded by foreigners.
