Explain talks, Nik Aziz told

"Why is it a secret from Anwar and Parti Keadilan Rakyat? Does this indicate that several quarters of the opposition are certain that Anwar will be found guilty and face a jail sentence.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has been asked to explain his involvement in a discussion which would want to appoint Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as the next opposition leader to replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Malaysia Malay Network deputy president Omar Salleh said that the Kelantan menteri besar would have to come forward and explain why this was being done in secret without Anwar's knowledge.

"Why is it a secret from Anwar and Parti Keadilan Rakyat? Does this indicate that several quarters of the opposition are certain that Anwar will be found guilty and face a jail sentence?

"Maybe Anwar's lawyer Karpal Singh has told DAP and Pas about Anwar's situation in his sodomy's case with Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan and this has led to an effort to find another candidate to fill the opposition leader post," Omar said when contacted yesterday.

Bayan Baru Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim had recently revealed an effort by the opposition to appoint the Gua Musang MP, better known as Ku Li, to replace Anwar.

Zahrain said this was the opposition's plan for the 13th general election.
