AMPANG: Non-governmental organisation Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) lodged a police report yesterday against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) general secretary Saifuddin Nasution concerning pamphlets entitled "Fitnah Dahsyat Berulang Kembali” (Slander Yet Again).
"The pamphlets, centred on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial, was signed by the PKR general secretary and accused the government, police, attorney-general, the judiciary, Umno, Barisan Nasional and media of involvement in a conspiracy against Anwar," JMM general secretary Tengku Amalluddin Sani told The Malay Mail after he lodged the report at the Ulu Kelang police station here.
He said in the pamphlets dated Feb 12 and addressed to PKR members and all citizens, Saifuddin made wild accusations against the judicial system and government in relation to the ongoing sodomy trial of the Opposition leader. “JMM urges the police to conduct a thorough investigation and take the necessary action since the pamphlet clearly insulted the judiciary, attorney-general and the police.” he said.
Amaluddin said Saifuddin was trying to provoke and influence the public by meddling with the facts presented at the trial, adding: "The four-page pamphlet was also supported with the so-called clinical medical report of Anwar's accuser, Saiful Bukhari, from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) which was purportedly signed by the medical officers of HKL.”
When asked how he acquired the pamphlets, Amaluddin claimed that he found the pamphlets scattered around the parking lots of a supermarket at Bukit Antarabangsa two days ago.
